Alternative Programs--Students At Risk

We also have been involved with a grant from the Department of Public Instruction to develop an alternative school called the Youth Apprenticeship Program.  This program is housed in Oconomowoc and was started in collaboration with Opportunities, Inc., the Oconomowoc Public Schools and the Kettle Moraine Public Schools, along with our district.

It targets students who are credit deficient, are too high functioning to go to a sheltered workshop but do not possess high enough academic skills to be able to obtain a High School Equivalency Degree (HSED) or a GED. This program has filled a “nitch” in our student population and has been very successful.  Students who graduate from this program receive a regular high school diploma and are certified in assembly work for future employment or references.  We also send students to the Generac Program and to MATC and WCTC for completion of HSED diplomas.
