Lunch Account Guidelines

Elementary
When the family account is between ten and twelve dollars, a written notification is given to the child's teacher to send home with them.

Each day after the deposits to the accounts are made, a file is created of all families whose lunch account is at or below ten dollars. An e-mail is then sent to them letting them know their balance. An e-mail is sent each day until the account has a positive balance of more than ten dollars.

A second written notification is sent a week later if no money has been deposited.

When the account reaches negative six dollars, the student is given a peanut butter sandwich and milk for lunch.  This continues until a sufficient deposit is made.

The difference between a positive balance of ten dollars and a negative balance of six dollars is eight lunches. Of course, if you have more than one child using the account, eight lunches may be purchased in less than eight days.

At any time, parents may go to the district web page (www.palmyra.k12.wi.us)  and access their account to see their balance. The balance is updated each day by 3:00pm.

Parents may also call the Foodservice office at 262-495-7101 ext. 2414 between the hours of 6:00am and 2:00pm to check their balance.

Middle School
Students are verbally notified of a low balance when their account reaches six dollars, and reminded each day until a deposit is made.

Lunch account balances appear on the computer screen each time a student makes a purchase. They may check it at any time.

Daily e-mails are sent once the account reaches ten dollars, just as at the elementary schools.

When a middle school student's account reaches a negative number, they may no longer purchase a la carte items, but may choose one of the three lunch options.

When a middle school student's lunch account reaches negative six dollars, they may no longer make purchases.  A peanut butter sandwich and milk will be provided until a sufficient deposit is made.

The difference between a positive balance of ten dollars and a negative balance of six dollars is seven lunches.

High School
Lunch accounts for high school students are handled in the same manner as middle school with one exception: Purchases are not allowed if there is no money in the account.  A peanut butter sandwich and milk will be provided until a sufficient deposit is made.
