Vampires vs. Aliens: A Wisconsin Wildlife Double Feature
What did you do to celebrate Earth Day? Students at Palmyra Elementary took in a show presented by the Milwaukee Zoological Society. Vampire bats and brown bats took center stage as students learned how bats help in Wisconsin by keeping the insect population down. Aliens were introduced through talking native Wisconsin animals including two gars and a salamander. They explained that gypsy moths, Zebra Mussels, and even earth worms were not native species to Wisconsin, therefore, are considered aliens.
In addition, Palmyra Elementary students will sponsor an animal at the Milwaukee County Zoo this year. This year’s animal: Starbuck the bat.
