First Graders went on a Bear Hunt!
In the library we are celebrating Bears! The first teddy bear was named for President Theodore Roosevelt. There was a cartoon in the newspaper in November of 1902 that showed the President and a bear. Since the President was known as Teddy, the name Teddy Bear was born.
First Graders brought either a teddy bear or another favorite stuffed animal from home to share during their school day. During "Library Time" Mrs. Rauch and Mrs. Retzke visited the classroom and captured all of the wild critters! Then Mrs. Retzke took the students on a "Bear Hunt" using the Smart Board and the awesome Greg and Steve video. Unfortunately the wild animals escaped from Mrs. Rauch and hid all over the Library. First Graders had to find their special friend and settle it down with a good book.
They also had a special bear visitor provided by the Thayer family! Students had the opportunity to touch this special guest and ask questions. Thank you Mr. Thayer for bringing your bear in....'cause we all know that Bears Love Books!
